Ginseng (Panax ginseng)

Panax ginseng is a well-known plant, the root of which has been used for centuries in Asia, where it is known as the King of Herbs. It contains a great many phytochemicals, some of which have been shown to have an adaptogenic effect on the human body. The primary phytochemicals in ginseng are a group called ginsenosides. A number of studies have been done on ginseng and ginsenosides, not only from the root, but from the berries and leaves as well.

Various effects have been attributed to ginseng, such as adapting to stress, supporting the immune system, supporting glucose metabolism, and cognitive performance.
